DIY Christmas Stocking Made from Upcycled Sweaters

If you have a few old sweaters lying around, you can easily upcycle them into a cute DIY Christmas stocking.

DIY Christmas Stocking from Upcycled Sweaters

MATERIALS NEEDED:
2 old sweaters (in different colors)
Scissors
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Puffy paint (optional)

Rummage through your closet or check your local thrift stores. The two sweaters I used here I got for $1 each at the local Salvation Army. You can use any design you want for your DIY Christmas stocking, but if you want to use the “boot” type design I used here, I do have a free pdf template here.

I used the zig-zag stich on my sewing machine to keep the edges of the sweaters from fraying, but if you prefer to hand sew, you could also just do very small blanket stitches all the way around the edges to prevent them from fraying. Also don’t limit yourself to just puffy paint to finish off your stocking. You could sew on tassels, jingle bells, or sparkly silk holly leaves, etc.
