DIY Steampunk Elf Belt

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a DIY steampunk elf belt.

DIY Steampunk Elf Belt

MATERIALS USED:
9 wooden leaf beads
An old belt
Glorious Gold Metallic paint
Metallic antique copper paint
Paint brush
Needle and thread
Scissors
1 distressed scrapbooking brad
Small gold chain
Silver link chain
Tiny compass
Gears
Gold paper fasteners
1 inch strip of brown distressed fabric (found in JoAnn fabrics)
A brown pouch
10 inches of 22 or 24 gauge wreath wire

I’ve been absent for a weeks because I caught a nasty cold over the holidays. Then it went down into my chest. So for the last couple weeks I haven’t been able to do much talking without coughing or straining my voice. But I’m about done coughing now, so here’s a fresh tutorial. Decided to come back with something easy.

BeeBeeCraft sent me a few of their items to try, and when I saw the wooden leaf beads, I knew they’d be just perfect for the steampunk elf costume I’ve been working on. (If you missed the steampunk goggles tutorial, check it out here). So I used the wooden leaves to turn an old Salvation Army belt, into a DIY steampunk elf belt.

The key to the steampunk transformation, as usual, is liberal amounts of gold and copper metallic paint, and of course, some strategically placed gears. Gonna rock the North Pole with this 😉
