Harry Potter DIY Magic Wands
A few sticks, some plastic embellishments, and a little paint can get you some easy DIY magic wands fit for Harry Potter any other wand-wielding folk. In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make 3 different, but easy DIY magic wands. You can either replicate the wands I’ve made here, or use the techniques for ideas to create your own style of wand.
MATERIALS USED
Wand #1:
A stick or dowel
1 Acorn
Strong Glue (Power-tac)
1 Shoelace
Dark Brown Paint
Gold Metallic paint and brush
Wand #2
A stick or dowel
String of Gold Pyramid Beads
Metallic silver puffy paint
Strong Glue (Power-tac)
Metallic gold paint
Wand #3:
A stick or dowel
2 plastic skull rings (found in JoAnn Fabrics)
2 plastic bat rings
Silver trim ribbon
Strong Glue (Power-tac)
Flat Black Paint
Metallic silver paint and brush
I used regular sticks that I picked up in the woods for my magic wands, but if you want something a little smoother, you could also purchase dowels instead. (I just like the price of woodland sticks…free)
Try using things you already have for the details on these. All the embellishments I used for these DIY magic wands were leftover from previous costumes (which is why I always save all my old pieces of trim, etc). And I already had all the paints on hand as well, so I was able to make my wands for absolutely free.
Be sure to leave me a comment below and let me know which wand you would choose, or rather which wand you think would choose you (because as we all know, it’s the wand that chooses the wizard…)
