How To Use A Green Screen On a Low Budget

In this tutorial I’ll show you how easy it is to use a homemade green screen setup for adding cool effects to your videos.

How To Use A Green Screen On a Low Budget

MATERIALS USED:
Piece of bright green fabric
An empty wall or doorway
Film software capable of green screen (I use Filmora software, available here)
Sewing pins or tack
Table lamps and chairs to set them on

A green screen setup doesn’t have to be expensive. Mine is just a piece of neon green fleece I got for a few dollars from JoAnn Fabrics, lit up by a few table lamps. Basically any bright green piece of material will do. And once you have it, you can use it to do some pretty fun special effects.

The position of your lighting is one of the most important parts, and I’ll be explaining that in the video. I finding shooting green screen in the day works best for me as I get the light from the overhead skylight in addition to my table lamps. You’ll have to find what time and set up work best for your particular situation.

Any blank wall or doorway can make a good green scene setup. Just remember if you’re planning to wear green in the video, you’ll have to shoot against a blue screen instead or you’ll disappear (though sometimes that can be a fun effect too 😉 )
