Mileena – DIY Mileena Costume Mortal Kombat x

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to make a DIY Mileena costume from Mortal Kombat x. With a little alova, some distressed fabric, and a bit of clever painting you can make yourself a battle-ready Mileena costume.

DIY Mileena Costume Part 1

MATERIALS USED:
Mileena top template: (available free in my patterns vault)
Plastic chain
Sculpey clay
Black Metallic paint
Gold Metallic paint
Paint brush
Glue that will bond the clay (Power-tac)
2 feet of maroon alova
1 foot of brown distressed fabric
Scrap pieces of pellon
Scissors
Awl
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Wide-eyed needle (embroidery needles work well)
Thick elastic
Black pants

This is part of one of the Mileena costume tutorial; the belt, top, and pants. I did create a free template for the top if you don’t want to draw the pieces freehand. I’m pretty flat-chested, so if you’re bustier girl, you’ll probably want to enlarge it, and perhaps add some darts to make it more comfortable. It’s fairly simple in shape though, so it’s an easy one to shrink or enlarge.

DIY Mileena Costume Part 2

In the tutorial below, I’ll show you how to make the second half of the Mileena Mortal Kombat costume: the armor, necklace, and mask.

MATERIALS USED:
Mileena mask template: (available free in my patterns vault)
Maroon alova
Brown distressed fabric
Wide eyed needle (embroidery needle)
Scissors
Pellon
Awl
Cardboard
Black and gold paint
Paint brush
Gold paper fasteners
Thin elastic

I didn’t put the armor pieces in the template as they’re basically just a bunch of odd shapes and rectangles. But the template for the mask is included in the pattern. If you made the first part of the costume, you probably already have it. If not, the link to the patterns vault is in the materials list above.

I only had time to make one bracer (trying to do a detailed costume during the heaviest weeks of sunflower season probably wasn’t the most brilliant idea I’ve ever had… 😉 ), but just double the instructions to make two of them.

And a special shoutout thanks to my brother for agreeing play a closet cosplay Raiden for the ending skit.
