Sylvie Horns DIY – Loki Variant

This week’s tutorial is a Sylvie horns DIY, utilizing craft foam to recreate the Sylvie headpiece from the Loki series.

Sylvie Horns DIY - Loki Variant

MATERIALS USED:
Sylvie Helmet Template: (available free in my patterns vault)
2mm craft foam
Scissors
Pen
Hot glue gun
White school glue and paint brush
Gold Metallic paint
Stretchy cord

I missed filming the part where I added the second layer of the middle piece. So make sure you cut two of those, stacking the second one so it’s a smidge higher than the first one.

While I ended up using craft foam for these horns in the end, I initially started by making the horns out of clay. The clay horns were much nicer looking as they were completely smooth. There was no seam in them.

However, the clay horns were also much heavier, and they were too much for the craft foam base. So I ended up making the Sylvie horns out of craft foam as well to ditch the extra weight.

If you wanted to try an alternative Sylvie horns DIY, you could cover the foam base in a thermoplastic such as wonderflex. That would give it enough wight to support clay horns.

I also have a free template in my patterns vault (above) if you don’t want to have to draw the pieces freehand.
