How to Decorate a Lamp with Newspaper Clippings

In this tutorial I’ll show you how to decorate a lamp with newspaper clippings.

MATERIALS USED:
An old lamp base and shade
Newspaper clippings (or photocopies)
Gloss Varnish
Paint brush
Tacky glue
Textile medium
Metallic purple paint
Mixing cup and stick
Foam brush
Metallic gold puffy paint

You can do this for the base as well as the shade. For the shade I used photocopies of my newspaper clippings though, as the print on the backside of the newspapers shows through when the lamp is turned on. The pictures I used were those collector plates they used to showcase in the newspapers. I had a collection of them that I’d cut out when I was around 10 (is it sad that I still have them?). So I thought this lamp would be a great way to use them up.

I used unicorns as my theme, but you can do whatever theme fits your fancy. You could even do a lamp using the comics section of the newspaper. A Peanuts comics-themed lamp would be pretty cute.

Leave me a comment below and let me know what theme you choose from your newspaper.
