Power Rangers Time Force Chrono Morpher DIY – Cheap & Easy Cardboard
A little cardboard and craft foam can get you a cheap and easy Power Rangers Time Force Chrono morpher DIY. In this week’s tutorial I’ll show you how simple it is to make.
MATERIALS USED:
Power Rangers Morpher Template (available free in my patterns vault)
Cardboard
2mm craft foam
5mm craft foam scraps
Puffy paint
Flat gold circle bead
Sticky backed velcro or snaps
Metallic Gunmetal Gray paint
Metallic silver paint
Orange and yellow paint
Paint brush
Scissors
Pencil
Hot glue gun
Multi surface glue
X-acto knife
Heat gun (or some way to heat it)
Plastic easter egg, or similar shape
I used black craft foam to go around the side of my chrono morpher, but I found out that the black foam darkens the silver paint. That made it look too much like the gunmetal gray paint I had used in the center.
As such, I suggest using white craft foam to wrap around the stack of cardboard. That way the silver paint will stay more silver and provide more contrast against the darker, gunmetal gray paint in the middle of the morpher.
For the wristband, I used Velcro to attach it, as I wanted it to be somewhat adjustable. Since I’m not a Power Rangers fan and my brother is, I wanted to make sure this time force morpher would fit him as well. So I used Velcro to allow multiple wrist sizes.
However, if you’re making your morpher to fit just you, you can get a more secure hold by using snaps on the band instead of Velcro. (You can find a tutorial for attaching snaps to foam here).
